While writing a simple raised and impressed trivial, but hopefully there is no benefit for the needy. Especially for those who are still difficulties in using the mobile broadband modem. Currently almost all mobile broadband modem has to be recognized and installed ubuntu.
Ubuntu already has the tools to configure the broadband modem. To perform the configuration can directly go to System -> Preferences -> Network Connections. Or it could also right-click on network manager icon in the row of icons above the right pane, then select Edit Connections ...
Later will come a configuration window with 5 tabs, Wired, Wireless, Mobile Broadband, VPN, and DSL. To configure the broadband modem, we select the Mobile Broadband. There are several steps in configuring a broadband modem, namely:
* Click the Add button, then make sure that the device has been detected. If you have press forward.
* Then select the provider country.
* Then select the provider in accordance with the provider being used.
* Then set the billing plan, the contents of APN name in accordance with APN providers.
* Then apply the settings.
After that, a new window will appear for further configuration as follows:
There are three tabs, Mobile Broadband, PPP Settings, and IPv4 Settings. Mobile Broadband On tab, fill in your username and password in accordance with the username and password to the provider that we use. If not using a username and password blank. Also make sure it is correct APN name.
Later in the PPP Settings tab, make sure the only PAP Authentication are selected. I select it by going to the Configure method. Later in the IPv4 Settings tab, make sure the method I have used Automatic (PPP), so the IP address, gateway, DNS servers automatically filled from the provider.
After all finished click Apply. To use the connection we've created earlier, we can choose the left by clicking on network manager icon in the upper right pane, then select the name of the profile that we were making in the Mobile Broadband. If it connects notification will appear that indicates the connection succeeds. To break the connection, just select disconnect via the network manager as well.
